Add the freispace MCP server to your LLM
This guide shows you how to connect the freispace MCP server to the most common AI assistants, so you can ask your LLM questions about your freispace data.
Prerequisites
Before you start, make sure your MCP client supports remote HTTP servers and OAuth. Your team admin must also have enabled your access to the MCP server (Managing MCP Server Access).
Configuration snippet
The freispace MCP server is hosted remotely and uses OAuth. Add it to your client's MCP settings with this URL:
"freispace": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.freispace.com/mcp"
}
If your client has an Add MCP server or Add custom connector flow, choose a remote HTTP server and enter the URL. When prompted, sign in to freispace and approve access. No API key or locally installed server is required. The exact setup steps vary by client; examples follow.
Client setup
- Claude Desktop
- Claude Code
- Google Gemini (CLI)
- Microsoft / GitHub Copilot
- ChatGPT
- Other LLMs
Go to https://claude.ai/directory/connectors/freispace to install the freispace MCP connector.
Alternatively, you can add the freispace MCP server manually.
- In Claude Desktop, open Settings → Connectors, and click Add custom connector.
- Enter freispace as the name and enter the server URL:
https://mcp.freispace.com/mcp
- Click Add, then Connect, and sign in with your freispace account.
On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner first adds the connector under Organization settings → Connectors; members then connect it in their own settings. Connectors added on the web are available in the desktop and mobile apps too.
- Add the remote HTTP server from your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http freispace https://mcp.freispace.com/mcp
- Then run
/mcpin Claude Code, select freispace, and choose Authenticate.
To share the server configuration with a project, add it to .mcp.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"freispace": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.freispace.com/mcp"
}
}
}
Verify the connection with claude mcp list.
- Run the following command:
gemini mcp add --transport http freispace https://mcp.freispace.com/mcp
- Then run
/mcp auth freispacein Gemini CLI to sign in.
Or add the server to ~/.gemini/settings.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"freispace": {
"httpUrl": "https://mcp.freispace.com/mcp"
}
}
}
Gemini Code Assist's agent mode in VS Code and JetBrains IDEs reads the same settings file.
GitHub Copilot in VS Code supports MCP servers in agent mode.
-
Create a file named
.vscode/mcp.jsonin your workspace (or run the MCP: Add Server command from the Command Palette). -
Add the freispace server. Note that VS Code uses a
serverskey instead ofmcpServers:{"servers": {"freispace": {"type": "http","url": "https://mcp.freispace.com/mcp"}}} -
Open the Copilot Chat view, switch to Agent mode, and click the tools icon to confirm the freispace tools are listed.
Start the server from the MCP view and complete OAuth sign-in in your browser. The same remote HTTP configuration works in other IDEs that support MCP and OAuth.
In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps (or Connectors, depending on your plan), enable developer features if required, and add a custom MCP server using:
https://mcp.freispace.com/mcp
Complete the OAuth sign-in, then enable the freispace app in a chat.
Any client that supports remote HTTP servers, OAuth, and the Model Context Protocol can connect. Register the endpoint in the client's MCP configuration:
{
"mcpServers": {
"freispace": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.freispace.com/mcp"
}
}
}
Consult your client's documentation for the exact location of its MCP configuration file.
Troubleshooting
-
Server does not connect: Confirm that your client supports remote HTTP MCP servers and is using
https://mcp.freispace.com/mcp. -
Authentication errors: Complete the OAuth flow in your browser and make sure your team admin has enabled your access — see Managing MCP Server Access.
-
Tools do not appear: Confirm the server is enabled in your client and restart or reload the MCP connection after editing its configuration.
